Welcome Sunny Weather

The weather is sunny again which lifts the spirits.  I'm able to download a few photos which is a relief as photography is my main hobby even though we're not venturing far at the moment.  It has been good to take a walk around the garden and take photos that I can download once again although sometimes the way I do it is not the usual one.   I've had to write down the process.  Sometimes it works and at other times it doesn't. :(

Here are some of the garden in Autumn.

The above two are ones of our daughter D's garden when the grapes are ripe for gathering.  She usually makes grape jam with them.  Our own grapes will be left for the birds as usual although the ones in the greenhouse have ripened and have been enjoyed.  :)

Daughter D is in charge of gardening at the school where she works and above shows some of the produce that she and the children grew together.   Daughter D made soup for the children to try a small amount and more was consumed during the staff lunch break. Earlier in the year the children grew and enjoyed strawberries in season.

That's all for now.  Thank you for coming by.  Have a good weekend and a peaceful week ahead.

Autumn Scene

I'm still unable to download recent photos.  This is an old photo of the local countryside in Autumn.  Thank you for your kind comments on my last blog post.  Happy Sunday to you all dear blog friends. P.S.  I'm going to take a break from blogging until I've worked out a way to download photos from camera to computer with a new download programme that I'm finding difficult to use.

Out and About

Recently I've had a break from blogging as Mr P and I had our 'flu vaccinations recently which left us feeling under the weather and lethargic.  I've also had another unresolved technical problem to deal with leaving me unable to download photos I've recently taken and transfer them from my memory card to my laptop/computer.  As you know, walking and taking photos locally is an incentive to get out and about and my technical issues have left me feeling frustrated.

Rain or shine I try to take a local walk and here are some archived photos I took when in the walled garden last week before encountering the download problem.  It's amazing how many areas are still full of flowering plants.

Not a real heron, only a model, but from a distance it adds a little atmosphere to the woodland pond area.

That's all for now until I can resolve the computer download photo issue.
Thanks for coming by.  Have a good day!

The Local Park and Library Visit

Back to the library I went on Tuesday after finishing the book I had been reading.  I did enjoy The Rising Tide (the latest publication in the Vera Stanhope series) written by Ann Cleeves.  As usual there was a dramatic ending which I won't reveal here as it would spoil it for potential readers.  I like the books for the small details about the characters as they develop over time, but on the whole I think I prefer Vera, (the television drama version of the series) for the visual aspect of the Northumbrian locations. I hope The Rising Tide will be commissioned as one of the episodes in the new series and then it'll depend on Brenda Blethyn as Vera being available in this long-running series for it to continue.

As you can see, the trees in the park were looking wonderful on that bright, sunny day.  As usual I took a walk in the walled garden by the library and then into the wild garden.

The volunteer gardeners were busy, the greenhouses were open to get an airing and the trees and flowers looked beautiful especially the Michaelmas daisies and the dahlias.

Back at home there's still a pile of books to read.

I hope that you're having a good week whatever you're doing.  As always, thank you for coming by.

A time in Italy (2)

Although we had days of sunshine and rain during our month in Italy and on our last day the weather was almost like a Summer's day, it did seem as if Autumn was on the way with chillier evenings. We didn't need the log stove and central heating on except for a couple of days, but it's always good to run the system and it's a comfort in an evening.
Our neighbours were beginning to take advantage of some dry weather to make a start on picking up the olives, something we've never cultivated ourselves, as well as gathering produce on their vegetable plots, especially the tomatoes.
We took a break from gardening and housework to take our grandson no 5 who had come with his father to spend some time with us out and about. There's plenty of interest to see locally and on the day trip to Rome we travelled into the city by train. On that day our grandson L measured on an app that we'd walked 12 kilometres around some of the historic centre.

Here are a set of photos of our time out and about in the local small towns:-

Isola del Liri - On a rainy day it was time for a coffee and a hot chocolate drink.

Some relatives came over in an evening and we also
went to their home in the old village where
the houses have been converted into cozy, comfortable homes.
