A rich tapestry

Rain

The above photo was the view from the window most of this week. Mr P  was out in the garden in between the heavy showers digging over the vegetable beds. He planted out some of the pelargoniums that have been indoors over the Winter.  For most of his spare time he's been tending the tomato plants in the covered yard and has also been at our local daughter's house for two days overseeing some work on the central heating system.

One or two pelargoniums brighten up the living room.

When it was drier the birds were back and active in the shelter of the big hawthorn/May tree. It attracts sparrows and blackbirds in all seasons. The birds peck at the new leaves and the autumn berries as well as finding it a convenient place to perch and attract attention with their individual calls.

I like to keep some plants in pots such as the hostas and lupins in the covered yard until they're established because of the dreaded slugs, but they also need to be put out to get a drink of rain water.

A lone carnation had got damaged by the rain so I brought it indoors and put it in a bud vase.  The lily-of-the valley is artificial as the real ones haven't produced any flowers.

Craft Project

Today I'm linking up with Cathy of Hooks and Needles blog who has started a new Craft Project so that we can craft together via her link.  Sessions will be on the first Tuesday of the month.  I'm looking forward to joining the linkup each month as I'm a novice when it comes to crafting and I'm sure I'll learn something new from other participants.
I've been crocheting for a while now and have made several lap blankets.  Below (in the foreground) is my latest blanket. Working on it is slow progress as I can only do a row or two in an evening, but it's relaxing and satisfying as I see the blanket grow. I have to get some more yarn as I started by using up left over balls of wool from other projects and now need more in shades of blue and lilac.
