It has been good to see the sun at sunrise in the last few days. The temperatures have been slightly milder too. I felt like going to the park for a walk today.
A while ago I picked up a leaflet from the library with a map of the parkland area so I thought I would use it to follow the trail. It's intended to be used by families that take their children to the Children's Library and it has questions to help them observe their surroundings as they walk with sections for writing, drawing or even bark rubbing. Instead of walking in the walled garden or the woods this time I followed the paths by the library, formerly Hillsborough Hall and Coach House, the lake and the children's play area.
One of these days I'll get a cup of coffee in the Coach House which is now a café, but as usual Mr P was waiting in the car parked on a side street so onwards I walked.
The area around the hammock and climbing ropes was rather muddy, but the children's playground has a clean surface and it looked as if it was getting good use.
I love the moss growing on the bark of this tree trunk that's been placed there for older children to climb on. There were other sections that would be suitable to do bark rubbings.
This squirrel was jumping and skipping across the grass and it lifted my spirits to see it playing about hunting for food.
On the main road I spotted a relatively new seat. Visitors are well looked after when they visit the park, I feel.
Across the road is a shop mainly selling Lego kits. My eye was drawn to other toys displayed in the side window. I like toys made of wood that are suitable for little ones. I'm sure I'll be returning to take a look now that there's a new generation of young ones in the family that'll enjoy such educational items. 😊
Thank you for your visit. Have a good weekend!
