A rich tapestry

Mother's Day/Mothering Sunday

Yesterday in the UK it was Mother's Day.  Here it occurs this month but I understand that in some countries the day set aside is during a different month of the year.  This traditional celebration started years ago.   Folk often worked in big houses as domestic staff .  They were given time off to visit family members at home and would take a bunch of flowers to their mother.  Modern Mother's Day has evolved from this tradition. As I have three children I'm blessed that they either visited or called me on the phone together with messages from the grandchildren.  Our son came for a visit on Friday and we had lunch together.  Mr P made delicious lasagne.  Our son brought a large pot of plants which I can plant out in the garden when the weather is more suitable. (The blue skies featured recently have been replaced by heavy rainfall).

We were invited out for brunch on Sunday at our local daughter M's home and our Berkshire daughter also sent bunches of flowers organised by daughter M. Our granddaughter, partner and little girl joined us and gifts were exchanged.

Our home is now full of flowers. Here are some photos:-

Whatever you were doing yesterday I hope you had a lovely day.  Thank you for coming by today.  Have a good week.
