October Days

Although it's rather a gloomy day today we've had some sunny weather this month.

I went to the park again and visited the walled garden.  It draws me in every time.  Of course I took some photos and also a few of our own garden.

The Autumn leaves are beginning to change to hues of pink, yellow and orange.

In our own front garden the vine leaves are beginning to change colour and the grapes that we'll leave for the birds are appearing.

Thank you for coming by.  I hope your week is going well.

Autumn Days

I haven't written a blog post since the beginning of September.  However, Mr P is able to drive again so we've been out-and-about locally.  I went to the library in the park the other day, changed some books and walked in the walled garden.  The weather has been wet and windy, but it was good to get out again.

There were still a lot of plants in flower in the rose garden and in the walled garden.

                                                                          hydrangeas

                                                                        climbing roses

                                                               delphinium, cone flowers

                                                                           sunflowers

The new entrance to the library is a little confusing, but it leads to the stable block café, the park, lake and the wild garden.

The boat which acts as a planter was full of  Autumn flowers and Michaelmas daisies.

.... and here are the Michaelmas daisies in our own garden

Here are the books I collected from the library, a children's book, an autobiography about someone who worked for the BBC (British Broadcasting Company), a picture history written by an historian and a novel set in Rome, Italy.

Our son came for a visit recently and brought us a pot of mixed plants, mainly ferns.

It was our great granddaughter's first birthday on Saturday.

On the way home we stopped to take photos of the crocheted topper on the post box because of the Autumn theme.  There were pumpkins, red-capped mushrooms and a quirky looking owl.

I hope you have a good week.  Thank you for coming by,
Linda P

August 2024: Our Garden (Collages)

It has been a warm, sunny day today.  I thought you might like to see some collages of photos I took this afternoon when walking around our garden and covered yard.  Our Daughter D gave us a bird box that she had painted.  It needs a coating of varnish so it's hanging in the covered yard for now.

After rain showers and thunder storms it's good to have sunshine again and enjoy a walk in the garden.  Mr P's vegetables in the raised beds, grapes in the greenhouse, tomatoes in the yard and all the flowers that he grows outside are doing well.

Welcome Sunny Weather

The weather is sunny again which lifts the spirits.  I'm able to download a few photos which is a relief as photography is my main hobby even though we're not venturing far at the moment.  It has been good to take a walk around the garden and take photos that I can download once again although sometimes the way I do it is not the usual one.   I've had to write down the process.  Sometimes it works and at other times it doesn't. :(

Here are some of the garden in Autumn.

The above two are ones of our daughter D's garden when the grapes are ripe for gathering.  She usually makes grape jam with them.  Our own grapes will be left for the birds as usual although the ones in the greenhouse have ripened and have been enjoyed.  :)

Daughter D is in charge of gardening at the school where she works and above shows some of the produce that she and the children grew together.   Daughter D made soup for the children to try a small amount and more was consumed during the staff lunch break. Earlier in the year the children grew and enjoyed strawberries in season.

That's all for now.  Thank you for coming by.  Have a good weekend and a peaceful week ahead.

The Local Walled Garden in Springtime

Recently I've had another blogging break as our eldest grandson has been staying with us in order to help us with some house maintenance.  He brought a high ladder and tools as Mr P can no longer climb up to do work at a height.  The gutters have been cleared, and woodwork done under the bay window at the front of our home.  We've been grateful for the help given especially as he lives quite a distance away. He also replaced a dripping tap system in the kitchen.

Since then we've been out-and-about locally and one fine day visited the library in the park.  There are new plants appearing in the Walled Garden and the blossom is out.

I thought that these primroses in different shades of yellow were pretty.

Finally, coming out onto the main road this new mural on the closed shutters of a cafe caught my eye.

In our own garden the tulips have been blooming for quite a while along with the pear and apple blossom.

Thank you for coming by.  There will possibly be a disruption from our internet provider today so I won't be able to reply to your comments if this happens.  Have a good day whatever you're doing and I'll be back soon.
