Our Garden: May 2024 Fruit and Vegetables

apple blossom

the greenhouse

The greenhouse is a useful place to grow more tomatoes and others are in the covered yard, flowers are forming on the tomato plants, grape vines are growing on the front garden stone wall, French beans are in a sheltered place next to a stone wall, strawberries are beginning to form fruit and apples are doing well on the small apple tree.  We might not get any pears this year.  It depends on the wind chill factor which might damage the pear blossom before fruit has begun to form.

We're enjoying salads now in this warmer weather.

Above is a recap of some of the beautiful flowers in our UK garden this month. Every day as I look around our garden, covered yard and other areas there's something new to see.  We'll be enjoying the fruit and vegetables Mr P has nurtured in due course.

Thank you for visiting.  Have a good day!

A Walk in the Park and Walled Garden

Roses in the rose gardens.

I took a walk in the park on Saturday just to get some exercise and visit the library before heading to the walled garden.  It was a relief to get outside as mainly I've been at home.

As you can see the area in front of the library consists of rose beds.  Our own roses in the garden are now in bloom.

Irises are doing well in the walled garden.

Olive trees on either side of the gardeners' rest rooms are looking healthy.

The herbaceous area is full of plants that attract the butterflies.

The Woodland and Stumpery

There are yellow irises growing in the water by the woodland pond.

Above is the new library entrance with better facilities inside such as cloakrooms for disabled visitors.

Across from the Stable Block Café is the wooded park and lake.

The garden staff are growing wild flowers in a couple of nearby plots of land - mostly buttercups at the moment.  Hopefully other wild flowers will bloom soon.

The plants for sale stall is a popular area in the walled garden.

The rhododendrons have masses of blooms at the entrance to the park.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you're well and you're having a good day.
