A Blog Update

Hello to all my blog friends.  I'm no longer blogging as technical issues continue to make life complicated for me. Every time you reply I have to delete your comment notifications and that causes another problem for me as I have to delete from the email system. :(

My husband, Mr P, was in hospital for a week and he'll be having more tests soon.  Hopefully it's nothing serious.  He's home now and getting back into his usual routine.

Other good news is that we are well supported by our local family. Our Berkshire daughter will be coming up for Christmas.  Our granddaughter and partner had a baby last month.  The baby was delivered prematurely by c-section.   Her partner has just gone back to work after maternity leave.  His family live locally so we visit when we can to see our great granddaughter who is doing well and putting on weight.

Sorry no photos, but I thought you would like to have an update. I can still comment on most of your blogs, so I'll try to keep in touch that way. Take care and all the best to you and yours, Linda.

A Neighbourhood Walk

The mural on the shutters of the café by the park.

Autumn is here now, but it's still sunny in our corner of the world.  I'm still having technical issues on my computer - this time with storage space.  I can't resolve the problems at the moment as I have no-one that I can ask.  (I've edited photos so that they're as small as possible for blog posts, for example, and used less of them as well as transferring those I edit into an extra hard drive storage system). I'll keep blogging as long as possible.

Yesterday I went for a walk down our lane in our neighbourhood.  The sun had brought out the bees and the butterflies that were feasting on the ivy flowers on the retaining wall of our garden. Later I saw more butterflies when I went further afield.

There are berries everywhere and the hydrangeas are also changing colour in local gardens.

There are piles of pumpkins in the supermarkets.

Thank you for coming by.  Have a good day!

Our Week (So Far)

It has been a varied week and since the days have been quite warm and sunny it's been an enjoyable one so far. Yesterday we went to our local daughter's home as she wanted her Dad to look at the vines and cut some of the branches so that the grapes could continue to ripen.

This variety has the taste of strawberries.

Daughter M's garden is L shaped and there is decking with steps up to the top of the garden.

I love seeing Michaelmas Daisies at this time of the year.

The mauve flowers of the asters look good against the red of the Virginia Creeper growing along the fence.

The roses have gone over now and are producing large, red rose hips.

Apples will be picked from this fairly new apple tree.

On the way home .....

there were pansies in a community planter ....

.... and there was a new crocheted creature on top of the post box

Thank you for coming by.  Have a good day!

Welcome Sunny Weather

The weather is sunny again which lifts the spirits.  I'm able to download a few photos which is a relief as photography is my main hobby even though we're not venturing far at the moment.  It has been good to take a walk around the garden and take photos that I can download once again although sometimes the way I do it is not the usual one.   I've had to write down the process.  Sometimes it works and at other times it doesn't. :(

Here are some of the garden in Autumn.

The above two are ones of our daughter D's garden when the grapes are ripe for gathering.  She usually makes grape jam with them.  Our own grapes will be left for the birds as usual although the ones in the greenhouse have ripened and have been enjoyed.  :)

Daughter D is in charge of gardening at the school where she works and above shows some of the produce that she and the children grew together.   Daughter D made soup for the children to try a small amount and more was consumed during the staff lunch break. Earlier in the year the children grew and enjoyed strawberries in season.

That's all for now.  Thank you for coming by.  Have a good weekend and a peaceful week ahead.

An Adventure in Canada

Thank you for your kind comments left on my blog last time when I mentioned I was having technical difficulties with downloading recent photos taken.  Here is another recent photo that I managed to download from last year when one of our grandson's came to visit around about the time when we gather the mature figs.  Grandson No 3 has just come back from a fishing trip to Canada which he won through his work connections.  (He works in a fishing tackle shop and fishing has been his main hobby for many years).  The fishing trip was exciting for him as Canada was a new experience.  He loves to be out in the natural world in quiet places.  He saw brown bears - albeit from a safe distance. His photos on one of the Canadian lakes with a team of other enthusiasts that he put on his social media account were good to see.

Of course, this huge fish was put back safely in the water.

Regarding my technical problems with downloading photos I haven't solved the issue yet and will have to use archived photos for now until I have time to sort out the problem.  However, I'll keep in touch.  Thank you for coming by.  Have a good day!

Autumn Scene

I'm still unable to download recent photos.  This is an old photo of the local countryside in Autumn.  Thank you for your kind comments on my last blog post.  Happy Sunday to you all dear blog friends. P.S.  I'm going to take a break from blogging until I've worked out a way to download photos from camera to computer with a new download programme that I'm finding difficult to use.

Out and About

Recently I've had a break from blogging as Mr P and I had our 'flu vaccinations recently which left us feeling under the weather and lethargic.  I've also had another unresolved technical problem to deal with leaving me unable to download photos I've recently taken and transfer them from my memory card to my laptop/computer.  As you know, walking and taking photos locally is an incentive to get out and about and my technical issues have left me feeling frustrated.

Rain or shine I try to take a local walk and here are some archived photos I took when in the walled garden last week before encountering the download problem.  It's amazing how many areas are still full of flowering plants.

Not a real heron, only a model, but from a distance it adds a little atmosphere to the woodland pond area.

That's all for now until I can resolve the computer download photo issue.
Thanks for coming by.  Have a good day!

Our Week

Earlier this morning I took a cup of tea out into the garden as in comparison to indoors it's much cooler there.  Mr P and I have been taking things slowly this week because of the hot weather.  I'm sure Mr P enjoys the warmth, but it doesn't suit me so well.   I've felt a little dizzy in the last couple of days.

However, on Monday we took a stroll along the local high street which we don't do so often.  There are three birthdays coming up this month including a 21st birthday and our great granddaughter's first one so we went along to a card shop to choose a selection of special cards.

After that there was my usual walk in the park to get to the library and then a look around the Walled Garden. (The garden was open and the volunteers were busy working there).  The photos I took reflect the season and the good weather.

This weekend our local daughter and partner are taking us out for a family meal.  (As I've mentioned, the great granddaughter and the two local grandchildren have birthdays in September and we're looking forward to celebrating with them).  I'm sure there'll be photos of the occasion to share next time I post a blog.

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you're doing.  Thank you for coming by.
