A rich tapestry

A walk in the park

We're enjoying some respite from the stormy weather which has given us the opportunity to get out and about again, at least around the local area and across the city.  It was lovely to see the the daffodils on the grassy banks at the park when I walked over to the library to take a book back and collect another one which I had reserved and had been waiting for - the latest Elly Griffiths' mystery, The Lantern Men.

The grass looked lush and green, but I kept to the paths as it was water logged and muddy.  Purple and yellow crocuses that pop up every year looked pretty.

As usual all the flower beds had been dug over by the park staff and volunteers and looked beautifully clean and tidy in the formal flower beds.  There's more promise of Spring bulbs blooming over the next few weeks into March.

Fluffy Willow buds and hazel catkins were just beginning to appear and always remind me of the Easter season, which is not far off as the celebration is a little earlier this year, being a moveable date.

As yet there was not a lot of colour in the walled garden, but hyacinths and different varieties of heather were a lovely sight.

In our own garden the first of the daffodil/narcissi buds have opened.  A variety that we inherited from the previous owner of our house is pale cream with a yellow frilly centre. She had planted them by the wall and hedges so they're mainly protected from the wind and rain, but the stems are long and bend easily so I've picked some to enjoy indoors.
