Our Garden Mid June

Since coming back to South Yorkshire from the wedding in West Berkshire we've been resting and enjoying the flowers in our garden.  The sweet peas are doing well.  Mr P made a structure of canes for them to climb up.  The roses, of course, are 'the stars of the show' whilst the white mock orange blossom and the blue flowers on the ceanothus with evergreen leaves, also called California Lilac, is a pretty shrub that is a winner in our garden.  Personally I like white flowers especially if they have a perfume that gets stronger at twilight.  The weather has been a mixture of sunshine and showers lately.    I hope the weather improves as it's quite cold for the time of the year.  Yesterday was Father's Day in the UK and Mr P received cards and phone calls from members of our family.

It's a busy week socially. We went to our local daughter's home for coffee and croissants on Sunday morning, we've a shared meal with our granddaughter and partner mid week and for our wedding anniversary we're hosting a meal for our local daughter and partner.

I hope you're also having a good week.  Thank you for your visit.

Flower Wednesday

The flowers in our garden may be limited to a few varieties as we move into October, but what blooms remain provide welcome splashes of colour and they look particularly lovely when the sun is shining.  On days such as today when there are only sunny interludes they surely brighten up the garden scene.  My husband cuts some carnations, daisies (feverfew) or roses to be arranged in the white glass or posy vases.
