Friday Bliss # 50 gardening, family life

This morning we said 'goodbye' to daughter D as she went back home to Berkshire after her two weeks of staying with us. We've just heard she got back home safely.  We've had some good times together as we've lots of interests in common especially cooking and gardening. We've enjoyed chatting about gardening, exchanging plants and home made produce as well as happy days getting together with our local daughter and family.  We've had a pizza dough and suppli (rice balls) making session at our house with daughter D and granddaughter before taking the ingredients to daughter M's to finish off the cooking for an evening meal.  Everyone had a hand at adding the toppings to the pizzas. We've also been out-and-about in the local countryside and have noticed the changes as Autumn is almost upon us.  I'll share some of these family activities next week. Other good news is that local grandson got his GCSE results this week and passed them all so now he has 9 GCSEs and is enjoying his training sessions and matches at the football academy he's now attending. We've also heard that our oldest grandson got engaged to his girlfriend last weekend. They've been together for four years. She's a single parent with a young daughter from a former relationship. The little girl is also happy about our grandson's commitment and we wish them well.
Regarding our x-ray results, we've been to see our family doctor and he has referred us both for further treatment.  I have to go to a specialist clinic to have further analysis to find out why my knee is so stiff and swollen. Fortunately no bone damage or infection, but tissue damage which is causing liquid to accumulate around the knee cap.  As for Mr P, he has to see a consultant at the hospital to discuss hip replacement surgery on both hips - but one at a time, of course. Meanwhile, we carry on doing our best to stay healthy and mobile with the help of medication. As mentioned before, walking far is not easy, but we keep going.
In the meantime, I'm joining Riitta's Friday Bliss linkup.  Today's photos are of the latest gardening projects and flowers in the garden that we've been enjoying.

This wicker basket full of plants - a fuchsia,
a trailing lobelia and petunia and others
was bought cheaply in the sale section at
the garden centre.

Mr P has made a planter with off cuts of wood and painted it
with the paint he is using to re-paint garden doors.
He hopes to make another planter to the same design.

The grapes hanging on the front garden dry stone wall are filling out.

Thank you for your visit.  I'll catch up with your news soon.
Have a lovely weekend!
