Our Christmas and New Year's Eve

On Christmas Day we went to our local daughter M's home for a traditional Christmas lunch of roast chicken with all the trimmings whilst our daughter M added a vegetarian option for herself. Afterwards we just relaxed and played games such as Pass the Parcel with the penguin parcel (below)

On Boxing Day our daughter D's eldest son, partner and her young daughter came to stay and his younger brother and girlfriend joined us the following day.  Not everyone could come for a visit due to work commitments, distance or being under the weather due to the 'flu, but we enjoyed some good times around the lunch table and even managed to go out for a walk in the countryside - more about that next time. Traditional Italian food featured such as lasagna, panettone (fruit variety and plain with prosecco cream filling) and Italian biscuits as well as fruit and a chocolate log sponge cake. On the Saturday our local daughter M, who had been working paediatric health visitor duties in the A & E department at a hospital in between the public holidays, joined her sister D along with M's two children for a lunch of  vegetable stew, baked potatoes and salad.

On New Year's Eve we spent the evening with daughter D who went home to Berkshire today. After D had cooked us a nice meal we relaxed, watched and waited for the New Year to come in with the help of the television live broadcast of the traditional count down to midnight and the firework display on London's River Thames Embankment.

Once more wishing you all the best as we journey on into 2019.
Linda :)
