Floral Bliss # 77 My week (1)

Our wedding anniversary coincides with Father's Day so this last week has been an enjoyable one as we got together with two of our families who live close enough for us to visit. 

On the Sunday it was a chance to go for a walk after lunch and take a look around the allotment that our son and DiL work on as produce needs frequent watering at this time of the year. 

Thankfully there's a water tank which gets filled up from the nearby river. An allotment holder has two small koi carp in the top tank so it's important to keep the tank covered after dipping the watering can into the water!

Redcurrants, blackcurrants and raspberries

are ripening and some are ready to pick.

All the surrounding plots look very productive.  Although it's hard work there's the reward of gathering produce at different times of the year and it can be an opportunity to socialise with fellow allotment holders especially at the weekend when individuals or families are around working on their plots.

DiL picked a lovely bunch of Sweet William flowers for me to take home as well as some herbs for the cooking pot.

On Monday we celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary by going out for a drive to Froggatt Edge in Derbyshire where we had lunch at one of the inns we've enjoyed visiting before. I'll share more next time.  (My laptop is working again thanks to our son changing the battery. It's still not up to speed. It really needs a an overhaul which wasn't appropriate during our family visit, but for now it's safe and working so I'm pleased that I can use it again).
