A rich tapestry

Transition into Autumn

During this difficult year we've been so thankful for our garden and areas in it where we can be in the fresh air, grow a variety of plants, gather produce and generally relax.  Socialising has been a challenge especially as the weather can be changeable.  Finding somewhere to sit and socialise that is well ventilated will be more difficult as we transition into the colder months.  There is much to do to improve this problem.  Mr P is thinking of changing the panels on the roof of the covered yard and we need a heater for this area.

Meanwhile we continue to gather the fruit and vegetables that are still giving us a reasonable crop and the recent warm, sunny weather has been a bonus especially during the times when members of the family have visited.  The new rule of having just six people gathering together in England is not a problem for us as our family groups are made up of two or three members who all live at a distance in the south of England.  Apart from our local daughter and family and her sister who came to stay over the Summer and a meeting up half way from home with our son and family we've not seen one another for over a year.

We were very pleased that our no 1 grandson and family came to see us yesterday and very grateful for the sunshine which meant we could have a bbq without worrying about the cold or rain.  The last time we had a family gathering was when our older daughter came to stay.  It was very chilly and wet and we had to retreat to the garage and covered area.  Since then we've cleared more space in the yard and eventually the tomato plants will go once all the tomatoes have ripened.

Above - our granddaughter and boyfriend occasionally come by. That particular day at the beginning of August we had a picnic lunch in the garden.  From time-to-time I do some baking, either for ourselves or for our local daughter, grandson and granddaughter who visit at the weekend after doing our food shopping.

I hope that you've had a good weekend.  Thank you for your visit.  I hope to catch up with all your news soon.  I managed to get a quicker appointment for a much needed eyesight test so I shall take a break from blogging for the time being.
