Our local family members come over to visit us frequently and this Sunday afternoon our daughter M came over for afternoon tea as usual. She gave me a bunch of roses and lilies and then helped her father with an essential garden task, that is, cleaning the drive and garden paving where some green moss had accumulated using a power wash tool that she had brought with her. We don't want to slip especially on the driveway which slopes slightly. Mr P had cleared out the covered yard beforehand and had put some of the plants that will be overwintered temporarily in the garage. We used the water sparingly and the task was soon done thanks to daughter M's help and her power tool equipment. The covered yard looks empty as the tomatoes in pots have been cleared away after picking the last of them. Today the pot plants in the garage will be put back in the yard. The paintwork needs cleaning and there's still more work to do in the garden as leaves begin to fall.
Autumn is one of those times you have to catch up with the little tasks, lucky or drive does not get much moss but the patio needs cleaning in the spring from the green algae that tends to appear . Have a good week
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of gardening tasks and we're thankful for help from family. We appreciate it since work commitments mean coming when they can. Take care Bill. Have a good week.
DeleteNow THAT is a fabulous daughter! And it looks terrific. I have to get in my garden to care for pots and pull out annuals -- and will, as soon as it stops raining!
ReplyDeleteHope you get to do some gardening when the weather is suitable Jeanie.
DeleteThose Roses are absolutely gorgeous! And I have been missing an action too from posting and reading because of injuring my shoulder and making it hard to type. I'm trying to get back in business now by talking to the computer but it takes much longer than typing. That pressure washer really did a great job on your getting that Moss removed and God bless your daughter for coming and helping with it
ReplyDeleteLovely choice of colour our daughter picked. You had a lot to do after the hurricane Ian came your way. Take care of yourselves.
DeleteIt is a kind of zen activity to rake and clean the garden. I like it. Beautiful roses!
ReplyDeleteThose tasks to wash and brush the paving and driveway were essential. We were glad that our daughter had the power tools and time to get the work done quickly and cleanly. We're enjoying the thoughtful gift of the bouquet of roses.
DeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandi
DeleteIt's great that your daughter can help you with those annoying jobs and even nicer to have some roses to enjoy too. It's been another sunny day today although I'm finding the mornings quite cold.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to get essential outside work done before the weather changes. It's definitely getting colder. I think having the covered yard and garage and being a semi detached house insulates us somewhat. We're finding ways to keep warm and well.
DeleteIt sounds as if you have been busy, There are so many jobs to do in the garden at this time of year. Good to have some help from your daughter with some of the tasks. What a nice gift, the roses are lovely:)
ReplyDeleteWe're taking advantage of the good weather to get certain jobs done in the garden. A visit, the flowers and the help were greatly appreciated.
DeleteYes, it is that time of year where we are preparing gardens for the winter.
ReplyDeleteWe've had weeks of fine weather and we must do our best to get work done in the garden before Winter months bring frost, heavy rain and snow. I expect you are doing the same over in Oregon.
DeleteI really like your wonderful yard and what a lovely daughter you have. (For all the very necessary work she helped with and, not least, for the beautiful bouquet she brought you. That girl is definitely a keeper!! What a sweetheart.) I hope your beautiful weather continues for a little while anyway. I am sure that, like here in Oregon, you need the winter rain, but maybe a little bit later in the year. (If only we could order it at the proper time and amount!).
ReplyDeleteWe're very grateful for visits from family, their help and company. You're having a difficult time as your thoughts must be on your place in Florida in the aftermath of the recent hurricane whilst being over in Oregon State. We would feel the same if something happened to our Italy home (so far away and not easy to travel to). Thinking of you Sallie and wishing all the best to you and your family.
DeleteSo nice of your daughter not only to help with the yard tasks, but also bringing you some beautiful flowers to enjoy. It was odd not seeing the plantings hat you showed in previous months, but I know Mr P will be busy once spring comes around next year.
ReplyDeleteMr P put the pot plants that were moved into the garage while the concrete floor was washed back into the covered yard. They'll stay there during the Winter and the pelargoniums will be planted outside in the Springtime. It was kind of daughter M to help with the power washing after which we had tea, crumpets and chocolate cake. :)
