Five on Friday

Hello everyone!  I hope you're well and you're having a good week.  Mine has been eventful in a good way, especially over last weekend and at the beginning of the week. There was a lunch time outing to a local Italian deli/caffé and the traditional blowing out of the candles on my birthday cake at tea time, some gardening in the sunshine on Sunday afternoon and a day out in York on the Monday. A bit of a rest was needed on the Tuesday!  Some reading, writing, watching the televised programmes from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, sorting out some technical glitches on my printer, doing the usual household chores also filled my days.

A leafy pathway along the bank of the River Ouse in the city of York

My husband and I went to York to meet a blog friend and her husband.  Marilyn from Portland, Oregon has a blog Delights of the Heart - "seeking beauty in everyday life" and she certainly conveys that in the imaginative photo images she shares and the verses she often writes to illustrate them.  I've also learnt a lot about different types of tea and enjoyed seeing the tea rooms that Marilyn visits. Naturally we had lunch in a tea room before taking a stroll around the York Museum Gardens. Everywhere we went there was something interesting to see, talk about and photograph. I'll share more of my week in a later post.

Now it's Friday and I'm joining the Five on Friday link-up hosted by Amy and sharing photos of some moments I enjoyed on two wonderful days this week. Click on the link here to see what others are sharing.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend

  1. What gorgeous photos along the riverside. It's hard to imagine how flooded this area got last winter. It seems to have recovered well. Have a great weekend. B xx

    1. Thank you. The floods in the different regions were devastating. Knowing the details of what happened in York I was very happy to see that the area where we walked on Monday (which was mainly in the Museum Gardens) seems to have recovered.

  2. Such beautiful photos and different angles from those you usually see! So much bright sunshine too. How lovely. Glad you had a good week. x

    1. Thank you. We were fortunate that Monday was a sunny day which meant we could take a walk in the Museum Gardens. If it had rain it wouldn't have been so enjoyable although there are plenty of places of interest where we could have stayed indoors.

  3. I enjoyed your pictures of York, it took me back to my visits to this beautiful city a few years back. I used to love strolling along beside the Ouse. xx

  4. It sounds like you've had a lovely week. I do love York, we're so lucky to live so close so that we can visit often. I always find it so peaceful in the museum gardens and strolling along the banks of the river.

  5. Happy belated birthday dear Linda!
What a lovely week you've had.
I have read some of your previous posts but with working I'm usually too tired to do a lot of blog visiting.
We stayed in York on our last trip to the UK, it is a beautiful city.
We saw the boats on the river too!
How lovely for you and Marilyn to meet, she is one of my blog friends too! I knew she was off to France but I had forgotten she was doing the UK too.
The gardens are looking so pretty.
I'm hoping we will see the Chelsea Flower Show - it's something I've always hoped to do but I can't see it happening now.
I must tell you I always enjoy your posts and most especially the ones of your Italian trips - the best of both worlds!
    Take care
    Shane

    1. Thank you Sharon. It was quite a busy week, but I try to pace myself. If one day is full of activity I try to rest the following day. Next week will be different again as I have meetings and a hospital appointment.

  9. Belated Birthday wishes, such a great place to meet up with a blog friend. One of our finest cities, although a nightmare when driving around it. You certainly captured the beauty.

    1. Thank you very much. York is certainly an interesting city, evidence of its heritage on every street. We had a good experience driving in York as I did research on parking, putting in a route on the sat nav that avoided Lendal Bridge where there can be a build up of traffic. Then we walked only around Marygate and the Museum Gardens.

  10. It sounds as if you spent a happy day on your birthday, and then the trip to York to meet a blogging friend must have been a lovely day.
The photos are lovely, are they taken with your new or old camera?

    1. Thank you Rosemary. I took both old and new cameras and used both. The ones in this particular post except the one in the collage on the bottom left hand side were taken with the new camera. A collage doesn't do justice to the original single photos and the beauty of the flowers.

Just to let you know I'm not receiving email notifications of your posts or any blogspot posts, other people are having a similar problem.
