Easter weekend

After a difficult week with the bad weather, which gradually improved by the weekend, we had a few hours of sunshine and blue skies on Easter Day morning.

There were fewer members of the family with us for our usual family gathering because of the difficulties with travelling long distances, but the two Yorkshire grandchildren made Easter buns to go with the Easter cake and Italian biscuits and we made an Easter display of our favourite seasonal childhood treasures and friendship gifts - decorated wooden eggs from Poland, a miniature olive wood egg and an egg cup from Jerusalem, an egg I painted during a fellowship session with overseas friends, a plastic rabbit napkin ring and an egg cosy from the 1940s, other decorations made by different grandchildren over the years and the Palm Sunday palm leaf cross.

Sounds like you had a great Easter despite the weather, etc... We saw family on Saturday and again today... SO--Easter Sunday was a nice, quiet one just for us. Loved it... We fixed a turkey breast. YUM..

  10. How special to have your two grandchildren with you and celebrate the reason for Easter. I loved seeing your decorations including the egg cozy and the pretty green dish with the nest, cross, and flowers - so very pretty. Thanks for sharing. Oh I see you are reading The Language of Flowers. I really enjoyed that book.

  13. Hope you enjoyed your time with the grandchildren! As I was boxing the Easter decorations back up, I was really wishing I had more pieces that had some sentimental value. You're so lucky to have so many.
